When you are single and have no partner to celebrate with, this might be a not-so-great day for you. But it doesn’t have to be a bummer!

Spending Valentine’s Day being single can be plenty of fun too :).

There are two main opinions on Valentine’s Day. Number one is that it’s one of the best holidays to celebrate the love people have for each other and to appreciate your partner even more. And number two, that it’s only meant to sell more stuff to the consumer, that Valentine’s Day is highly commercialized and it lost its true meaning of celebrating love for each other.

If you think it’s a holiday that needs no celebration, that’s cool! But if you love the idea behind Valentine’s Day, keep reading for some fun ideas to celebrate this lovely holiday. Lots of love to you all!

7 Wonderful Valentine’s Day Ideas for Single Women

1. Treat yourself

Treat yourself with a bouquet for Valentine's Day.

Valentine’s Day is the perfect day to treat yourself to something you really want. You don’t have to have a partner to get nice things! Treat yourself to a pretty piece of jewelry or a fancy bouquet. Buy yourself that amazing dress or go out for your favorite cup of coffee or dessert.

Most of the time, your loved one will try to figure out what you want, but this can turn out to be an epic fail. Is there anyone else who received Valentine’s presents they hated because they were just so ugly? If you have a very specific taste, you are the best person to buy yourself a present!

The point is that you are an independent woman who doesn’t need a man to treat her, you can just buy nice things for yourself! You deserve it.

2. Have a self-love day

It’s the time of year to celebrate love. Valentine’s Day is all about appreciating the love you receive from others and giving love back in return. The most important kind of love is the love you have for yourself.

Some people might find it hard to love themselves, and these people will probably suffer the most on Valentine’s Day. They think they need other people to tell them nice things or to love them. Everybody indeed needs somebody, but you will feel a lot better if you learn to love yourself as well.

Spend this day celebrating the love you have for yourself or try to get closer to getting there. Fill the day with self-care activities like getting a massage, going to a sauna, pampering yourself at home with a bubble bath or a face mask, watching your favorite shows or reading a good book, etc.

Do some things you love to do. Take care of yourself like you love yourself!

3. Celebrate with friends

Love spelled by hands of friends.

Another great way to celebrate Valentine’s Day is to have a party with your other single friends! Gather as many single friends as you have or want to see on this day and have a fun day or evening together.

You can throw an actual party with music and a lot of alcohol, but if this doesn’t sound like you, go for a more intimate party with board games or just chill together. Provide some snacks and drinks or let everyone bring something to have the best time!

You could go out with a bunch of friends to a nice restaurant and have a delicious meal and maybe end the night with some karaoke fun. Celebrate the love you have for each other as friends! Maybe you could even do some kind of Secret Santa thing but then for Valentine’s Day, everyone has to buy a present for another person anonymously.

4. Cozy night in

Especially when Valentine’s Day falls on a weekday, a cozy night might be just what you need!

When you get home, change into something comfy and let yourself sink into the couch. Order your favorite food and let it come to your home. Put on some music you like or a show you love to watch. When you’re done eating, take a nice hot bath, maybe add some scented candles, and let all the stress of the day melt away.

You can end your evening with a self-care activity like journaling, reading a book, or watching your favorite TV show or movie. Pamper yourself a little on this day that’s all about love. Relax and take it easy.

5. Look for love

Looking for love on your phone.

Valentine’s Day is a great day for singles to boost their dating game. Dating can be exhausting and I hope I’m not the only one that feels this way. But when you see other couples being cute together and celebrating their love for each other, this might be a trigger for you to find someone as well.

I always give up on dating after a while but when I see dating shows on TV or couple goals online, I find it motivating to keep looking for myself. When you don’t do anything to improve your love life, chances are that you will stay single. Cute guys don’t show up on your doorstep, unfortunately.

So install a few dating apps, or apply for a speed dating event. Ask a friend or coworker if they know someone who might be a good fit for you. Try something new and don’t fear a couple of mismatches because eventually, you will find someone who is right for you!

Swiping on a dating app can be fun for a while but it’s even more fun when you have a match and can talk to them and feel a connection growing. So start swiping to get there! Good luck to you all!

6. Date night with your bestie

If you have a single best friend, go celebrate Valentine’s Day together! You could have a cozy night in or go out and have some fun.

A dinner and a movie is the classical recipe for a date night, am I right? So do this with your best friend or maybe your mom if she is single. You don’t need a partner to have a date night, as long as you have people in your life that you love, you can have date nights with them!

There are so many things you can do on a date night. In winter, it might be fun to go ice skating or have a winter walk followed by a stop in your local pub for a hot chocolate. Having a date in a coffee shop might is also very cozy and nice to do in winter.

You can also buy a little present for each other to make it even more fun! You probably know your best friend better than anyone else so you surely will find something they will like.

Friendship is so important to cherish as well as other loving relationships. Don’t take your friends for granted and show them some appreciation on this day of love.

7. Create something to share

If you want to show your kind heart to the people you love, find a way to express how you feel towards them and let them know.

You can bake cookies and decorate them in a lovely way or bake an awesome cake to share with your loved ones. You could also write letters or postcards to friends and family to let them know how important they are to you and how much you love them.

If this all seems like too much hassle, just send them an email or text to let them know that you are thinking of them and you love them for the people they are. Everybody loves to hear those things, and we don’t say these things enough to each other.

You might get some love back your way and even if you don’t, giving love feels great!

Spread the love!

Valentine’s Day is a great reminder to show some more love to the people around you. Don’t fall into the comparison trap but appreciate the love you have in your life even if this doesn’t come from a romantic partner right now.

You will find love if you keep looking and putting yourself out there, but focus on the beauty of the present on this day and celebrate with the loved ones you have in your life.

Spread the love and be kind to everyone around you. I hope you enjoy your Valentine’s Day!
